lyrics
I’m just finding time
To be me
From work to bed
And everything in between
Even out there
Socially
A mask worn by me
Who else could I be?
I’m only human
I don’t expect a release
Look at me in my cowboy hat
Don’t I look funny?
Do you take me seriously?
The real me
Surreal indeed
I got to thirty
And my body tried to leave me
Not figuratively
I'm talking mortality here, dummy
We never really grow up
We get old
Or maybe I’ll just forget about that
And go out dancing
Tonight!
Dancing
Just dancing
You know I’ve never tried me some cocaine
Maybe I’ll just go tomorrow
Maybe the best thing David ever did, which makes me extremely sad. A Jews record in all but name, but more direct in its lyricism without losing that indescribable feeling, that beauty and sorrow and lighthearted sarcasm all rolled into one profound set of lyrics that are David Berman. Not to mention the band playing on the record is probably the best Berman ever recorded with. Rest in Peace DCB. jack_thorn16
